3D CAD Modeling & Product Design

This was the initial stage where the goal was set as to what is to be done. One of our recent projects, whereby our customer wants to recreate the old retired Arbor Press as a 6-inch miniature model. Firstly we converted all the measurements into a rough 2D sketch and gathered a bunch of reference photos.

We recreated the 3D file just from photo references and a few basic measurements of the old Arbor Press. We could have used our trusty 3D scanner but we went the extra mile to design the arbor press part by part so we can capture more details. This allowed us to create a model that is more functional.

After the 3D design was finalized we transited into manufacturing. Firstly we had to test and make sure all the parts fit together. Once all the parts are finalized to the final dimensions. We are ready to 3D print. For this, we used our reliable Markforged 3D printers. We printed all the parts overnight and ordered a bunch of steel hardware, dowels pins & tension springs. Put them all together and did some finishing touches/tweaks.
