Welcome the arrival of the Mark X Composite 3D Printer!
Just when we thought what else could Markforged come up with after launching the MarkTwo Enterprise Printer, they have shaken the industry once again with the release of the Mark X production printer. Bigger and better than before, the Mark X Printer is the newest addition to the portfolio of the Markforged Family. So whats different from the Mark X and the existing Mark Two Enterprise Printer? Well lets find out!
Whats New?
1) A new feature called In-Process Inspection.
This ultimately allows you to scan your parts during a middle of the print allowing you to inspect the print and ensuring that the dimensional accuracy at the critical tolerances are met as per your requirements. This is done via the Eiger Software and a laser displacement sensor that is attached to the print head.
What does this mean? This means you can define a tolerance specification based on your requirements and the Mark X will do the rest.If the print for some reason breaches the tolerance level, you will be alerted and can choose to cancel the print saving you your time and material.
2) Larger Print Volume
The Mark X now comes with a bigger printbed volume at a whopping 330mm x 250mm x 200mm. Compared to the MarkTwo Enterprise, the print volume is now 2.7X bigger than before.
3) Surface Finish
With the launch of the Onyx Material, the Mark X is able to produce Onyx parts with a resolution of up to 50 microns! This is to comparable to the SLA technology.
All in all, the Mark X is a breakthrough for an industrial strength printer. It can print plastic parts with the strength of metal, enabled by printing with composite filament fabrication (CFF) technology. These include carbon fiber, fiberglass, HSHT fiberglass and Kevlar™.
