The first prototype was an intake manifold for the 79 Volkswagen rabbit. The runners designed initially was going to be prohibitive in terms of costs. The real machine printer does do a great job, however using the machine was going to be time consuming and expensive. In order to get to the straight tube runner to keep costs and time down, a template was being created which helped to clamp onto the tube itself. Once that was created and printed using nylon, a bend saw was using right over the top ring of the tube. The nylon did not budge and made nice clean cuts. After the cuts were made, the tube was ready for welding.
